Barista Daze..
Welcome to..
.. it's my world. Where would I be without Caribou Coffee. Well, for one, without a job, two, without GOOD coffee, and three, without a few good friends. I believe I mentioned something about how I am a 'Professional Barista' in my last post.. but, I wanted to state it again, because it is SOOOO true.
I don't mind Starbucks, but I don't hate it either. I actually hit up Barnes & Noble cafe once in awhile to get an amazing piece of cheesecake, and drink up Starbucks, but, shh.. don't tell anyone that.
I actually just got home from there. Today was a pretty long day considering my cold, and being tired.. but, it's all good.
Right now I am off to Hunter (my cousin's) soccer game.

This is the official blog of THE SHAWN SCHMALKEN
Well, hello there. This is new to me. Everyone else has a blog, I don't.. something is wrong with that picture.. and it's me not having the blog. So, I got a blog, and I am actually writing on it. So, I guess, I can introduce myself, or my life.
In case you didn't know, i'm Shawn Schmalken, or as some call me, 'The Shawn Schmalken.' I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska is okay, although, I would rather live in California... well, who doesn't? California is amazing.
I work at Hy-Vee, at Caribou Coffee. I am a professional Barista- yes, you know it. I know all the tricks, and literally EVERYTHING about coffee. It is something I am very passionate about.
I also am very passionate about Invisible Children. It's a non-profit based on bringing peace to the war-torn region in Uganda, and providing education to the future leaders there. It's an amazing organization- and I have met SO many amazing people because of it. I dream of one day of becoming an Invisible Children Roadie. It will be amazing, when and if it happens. Someday.
I also love photography, as well as filmmaking. Someday, I will attend a film school. Hopefully.
Right now, I am in college, and majoring in Graphic Design. I love it.
